2.2 Million Benefitted – Punjab Annual Report

AlKhidmat Punjab General Council held its Annual Conference here today at a local auditorium. In his address to the gathering, AlKhidmat President, Dr Hafeez-ur-Rahman, informed the gathering that AlKhidmat had divided its work into seven sectors, namely: Rescue and Relief, Rehabilitation and Development, Healthcare, Education, Community Services, Microfinance, and Orphan Care Program.
He alerted the members of the conference to the distressing fact that the number of children becoming orphans had increased greatly due to the ongoing military operations in Pakistan’s northern areas, and that there was no one to care for these poor, vulnerable children. He said AlKhidmat is determined to launch a countrywide campaign for the education and care of orphans with a target of reaching out to no less than 10,000 orphan children.
In his presentation of the annual report to members of the conference, Acting President AlKhidmat Punjab, Ziaullah Shah, said 21 schools, 23 vocational centers, 20 hospitals, 91 clinics, and 45 clinical laboratories are currently operating under the management of AlKhidmat Punjab. No less than 245 mobile medical camps had been organized by AlKhidmat Punjab in various underprivileged and underdeveloped areas of the province, while 285 individuals became self-employed with assistance provided to them under AlKhidmat’s Microfinance Program. Assistance under the Winter Package program was handed out to 5,200 poor families. Wheelchairs were distributed among 250 physically challenged persons. He informed members that 35 water filtration plants were also being operated under AlKhidmat’s management in various areas of the province. Food ration packets were distributed among 12,000 destitute families. While, overall, 2.2 million disadvantaged people benefitted from AlKhidmat’s services.
Vice President AlKhidmat Foundation Pakistan, Syed Ehsanullah Waqas, Secretary General AlKhidmat Punjab, Ikram-ul-Haq Subhani, as well as AlKhidmat office bearers from 35 different districts of Punjab province were also present at the occasion.
