Human nature demands that we sympathize with our fellow human beings, help them in need and stand by their side in trouble. Previously, philanthropy was more of an individual act than an organized effort. Big cities have bigger problems that demand more organized effort. Lately, relief and social work has taken tremendous dimensions and is being organized on national and international levels. Al-Khidmat Foundation, Pakistan is continuation of our half a century old tradition of relief and philanthropic work. It had set up its branches all over East and West Pakistan as early as 1951. At that time, relief organisations could be numbered on finger tips only.
Al-Khidmat's services actually started with the inception of Pakistan when hundreds and thousands of families were driven out of their homes and hamlets without food, shelter or security. It was an extra ordinary event of migration and needed relief operations on war footings.
The “Al-Khidmat Foundation” took its present name and form in 1992 and was registered as an NGO under the Societies ACT XXI of 1860 with the Government of Pakistan. By adding up our services at home and abroad without any fear of contradiction, we can claim to be the biggest network of humanitarian services in Pakistan.
We always acknowledge the vision & efforts of our elders having conceived the importance of establishing an organization with clear target of ‘Service to Humanity' without any discrimination on any basis. For us, an orphan is just an orphan and a prisoner, for example, is only a deprived human being. We try to help oppressed women exclusively on the basis of her being less fortunate. Religion, sect, language, political affiliations or any thing else are of least concern in Al-Khidmat Foundation, Pakistan Programmes. Our dispensaries are functioning very well, even in non–Muslims majority population areas. We have rendered services to all calamity hit people in our region ignoring all other factors upholding the human aspect only.
Performance of our sisters in Al-Khidmat Khwateen Wing (Ladies Wing) have been remarkable all the times. They have proved to be on the front line always, every were, according to the call of a crisis. Initiating our programmes with dispensaries, Al-Khidmat Foundation, Pakistan commenced offering education to girls & boys in backward areas of Pakistan. More than 1200 Schools exist all over the country with excellent results. Ladies Vocational Centres, Adult Literacy, women Empowerment Projects, full fledged Hospitals, Refugee care programmes, Prisoners welfare, Renovation of Nangarhar University in Afghanistan, Mobile dispensaries, Orphans Sponsor Projects, Home (Baithak Schools), Drinking Water in remote areas, subsidized vaccination against Hepatitis B, Emergency relief in the form of dry ration, tents, blankets, building material, medicines, medical aid. All our workforce and our team leaders have solemnly pledged ourselves for the cause of humanity and feel confident to meet the expectations of all those who have supported us in reducing the miseries of our people in this region. All members of our team have inherited a deep rooted concept of ‘Al-Khidmat' being exact translation of “the service” and hope to transfer this heritage of half a century to our next generation with enhanced activities and changed processing of projects under modern concepts of philanthropy. |
