DIR , 25 March 2012 -
A ceremony was held in Dir Lower area to award certificates and prizes among the first batch of studentswho had successfully completed a ‘Free Computer Short Course’ organized jointly by AlKhidmat and Claypso Systems, an organization which specializes in learning technology for the classroom. AlKhidmat’s Education Division is committed to raising the literacy rate among young people.
The computer course was conducted at a cost of Rupees 50,000/- and a total of 370 students will be benefitting from the course. This a major achievement as most of the participants of the course are from internally displaced families who have been doubly affected due to the twin calamities of the 2010 and 2011 floods which devastated the area, as well as the exodus and internal displacement which had occurred as a result of the long drawn out strife in Pakistan’s northern areas. The course was initiated in January 2012 and will continue to make young people computer literate until April 2012.
