Sindh: A wonderful festival was arranged in AlKhidmat Tent City at Tando Bago, Dist. Badin, sindh to cheer up the young children of flood-affacted areas. The program was a joint- adventure of Al-Khidmat Foundation and Charity Australia International. Various sports competitions like cricket, football, volleyball and running were arranged as followed by Quranic recitation contest and Quiz competition. The festival was observed by AlKhidmat volunteers. There was also a projector show in which the children were shown religious and educational stories, cartoon films and such other useful programs that were widely and warmly liked by the children who began to take much interest. In Tent city this festival was held gave a shining look that attracted the audiences. The parents of the children were also present on the occasion to watch the performance of their children in different activities. At the end, prizes were handed out to the position holders and gifts were given to all children present in the festival.
Peshawar: AlKhidtmat Foundation distributed special Christmas gifts among the Christian community in Peshawar district. A ceremony was held at Edward High School in Sadar Peshawar whereby blankets, cloth, cooking oil, rice, flour, pulses, and other essential commodities and gifts for children were given away among 200 Christian families. Priest S.P Asghar, Nazia, Daniel Samuel, Younus Khan and other Christian leaders were participated in this ceremony. The program ended with prayers for harmony and prosperity, restoration of peace and security in the Pakistan.
Lahore: AlKhidmat Foudation with the collaboration of Rescue 1122 arranged a two-day training workshop for its volunteers from Khyber Pakhtunkha province. A number of 26 AlKhidmat volunteers took part in the workshop that was held in Rescue 1122 Peshawar headquarter. This was a short course for basic first aid techniques. The volunteers were taught how to cope with a dangerous situation like accident, fire fighting and any kind of emergency.
A meeting of International Federation for Relief and Development (IFRD), which consists of NGOs in Muslim countries, was held in Malaysia. As many as 22 NGOs including Alkhidmat Foundation took part in the meeting. The meeting was aimed at promoting mutual relationship. Secretary General Alkhidmat Foundation Muhammad Abdush Shakoor represented Pakistan. He was heading the constitution committee. He apprised the meeting with activities of Alkhidmat Foundation. The participants hailed the services rendered by Alkhidmat Foundation in education, health, community development and emergency relief sectors. The head office of IFRD has been established in Kwalalampur, Malaysia. The IFRD has commenced its activities.
Alkhidmat Foundation inaugurates new school building of Surraya Ashfaq Model School in Lahore.
A new school building adjoining the Surraya Ashfaq Model School was inaugurated on Sanda Road Lahore. This English medium school has been providing first-rate quality education in the area for the last 12 years. The school facilitates girls to accomplish their studies from nursery to matriculation whereas boys are able to get education up to fifth class. Thirty percent students are those who get free of cost education and most frequently are those who are orphans or whose parents are helpless to afford their education. Only 10% students deposit full fees rest are admitted at no cost. Besides free education, books, uniform and other stationary items are also provided to the children again without any charges. Surraya Ashfaq Model School was tutoring 400 students previously but now with the establishment of new building, further 200 students would easily be adjusted in the building to impart them education
A free medical camp was organized under the umbrella of Alkhidmat Foundation at Bhit Shah for the visitors on the eve of annualURUS of well knowm Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif.
Alkhidmat arranges free medical camp on every year in order to provide the visitors medical facilities free of cost. President Alkhidmat Foundation Sind Dr. Tabassum Jaafri visited the camp and said that the sole objective behind the medical camp was to provide the visitors better medical facilities. Alkhidmat Foundation had been organizing this kind of medical camps in the past and would continue in future as well.
Al-Khidmat Foundation with the help of its Saudi friends has inaugurated 10 development projects in Mansehra that include 4 pure water supply schemes, 4 hand pumps, 1 well and a mosque.
Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan keeping in view the hardships being faced by the poor people in winter has arranged warm clothes, blankets, bed sheets and other necessities with the amount of Rs.40 million.
