AlKhidmat has set up a ‘discount bookstall’ for students in the PP6 area of Rawalpindi. The bookstall is giving out school stationary at half price to students in order to lessen the financial burden on them. Moreover, the bookstall alsoencourages students to donate their used course books and school bags so that they can be utilized by underprivileged students.

The bookstall is a part of AlKhidmat’s Student Aid Project which aims to raise the literacy level in the country by investing in education related projects. More than 562 deserving students are expected to benefit from the project. The student bookstall was inaugurated by President, AlKhidmat Rawalpindi District, Maj (Retd.) Muhammad Munir Azam.

A fire which broke out in the Karachi suburb of Awami Zamurrad Colony fully or partially destroyed up to 70 houses and left more than 1200 people without homes, food, or water, as well as claiming the life of one child.

AlKhidmat is the only relief organization which has reached out to the victims by setting up a ‘tent city’ for 500 people whose homes had been completely destroyed by the fire. AlKhidmat is also providing clean water and free food – three times a day – for 400 people, as well as giving out free cooking utensils, tableware, and other items of household use to the affected people.

AlKhidmat has also set up a medical camp at the site for treating burn victims where more than 400 men, women, and children were treated. Those who require medication are provided with free medicines by the mobile medical clinic. An ambulance is also taking part in the relief activity by helping transport those who require more specialized medical care to hospitals.

AlKhidmat Rajanpur, Punjab Province, has given out 5 wheelchairs to physically challenged people. The wheelchairs had been donated to AlKhidmat Punjab by Free Wheelchair Mission, USA, and were forwarded to AlKhidmat Rajanpur for distribution among physically challenged people who had, until then, been forced to move around in great difficulty without wheelchairs.
The Free Wheelchair distribution ceremony was attended by Advocate Muhammad Rafi Pachar and Mian Irfan Khalid, President and Gen. Sec. AlKhidmat Foundation Rajanpur, respectively.

Japanese Students Visit AlKhidmat Head Office

An eleven-member group of Japanese students from Saitama University visited the Head Office of AlKhidmat Foundation Pakistan. The students are on a study tour of Pakistan accompanied by their teacher Prof. Kawamato, and had visited various AlKhidmat humanitarian projects a day earlier.
The students were given a presentation by AlKhidmat office bearers and staff regarding various humanitarian projects that have been undertaken by AlKhidmat over the years, along with those which have been completed with the collaboration of the Government of Japan. They were also presented with Pakistani souvenirs.
These joint projects include 14 water filtration plants donated by the Government of Japan, seven of which have been installed in the Sindh province and an equal number in the Punjab province, as well as material aid worth US $ 0.4 Million, given as food rations, medical equipment and medicines, and tents, for flood affected people of Charsadda area, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
In turn, the students thanked AlKhidmat for the two-member team which had visited Japan after the terrible tsunami and provided assistance with the collaboration of Islamic Circle of Japan for affected people in the Fukushima, Miyagi, and other prefectures of Japan.

AlKhidmat Foundation Pakistan has inaugurated yet another educational institution in its drive to raise the literacy level in the country and make education accessible to everyone. The new school, located in Al-Markaz Al-Islami, Jinnah Colony, Mansehra, and named ‘School of Excellence’, has been built at a huge cost of Rupees 3.5 Million, generously donated by Helping Hands, USA, while the land was made available by AlKhidmat. The School of Excellence was inaugurated by President, AlKhidmat Foundation Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Inayatullah Khan.
The new school offers 40% less in tuition fees to residents of the area compared to other schools, and boasts the alluring slogan, ‘Building The Nation Through Education.’ The school will initially begin classes at the Play Group, Nursery, and Prep Levels, which are soon expected to be extended up to the Primary Level.

An eleven-member group of Japanese students from Saitama University led by Prof. Kawamato visited the Kot Lakhpat area of Lahore to observe various AlKhidmat projects in action.

The students visited the following five projects:

Fazl-e-Noor School, which boasts of 633 students, offers classes from Pre-Nursery up to Matriculation level, and charges 60% less in fees than other schools of the area;

Nani Maria Vocational Center for women, which has 20 students and two instructors, and imparts various skills to students for a minimal fee of rupees 250/- only;

Baby Day Care Center for working parents, where each baby-sitter looks after 23 children at a nominal fee of rupees 500/- per child;

Al-Badr Dispensary, where approximately 150 patients benefit from the dispensary’s services at a negligible token fee of rupees 20/- per patient only. Apart from the usual lab equipment, the dispensary is also equipped with an ultrasound machine. It has two lady doctors assisted by eight paramedical staff.

The students also visited a water filtration plant, installed with the assistance of the Japanese government, which provides clean drinking water to residents of the area free of cost.

AlKhidmat Foundation Islamabad Region has handed out monetary Scholarship Distribution worth Rupees 0.6 Million as educational assistance among 80 orphan children residing in and around the Federal Capital Territory, Islamabad. The assistance distribution ceremony had been arranged by Regional office Islamabad.
AlKhidmat has two departments for the Scholarship Distribution of orphans, the Orphan Care Program, and the Orphan Family Assistance Program, both of which have several projects for the Scholarship Distribution of orphan children.
Gen. Sec. AlKhidmat, Mr. Abdul Shakoor and President Alkhidmat Islamabad Region Ch. Muhammad Saleem as well as Ehsanullah Qureshi, Asst. Sec. AlKhidmat, were also present at the Scholarship Distribution ceremony.

MANSEHRA, 10th March
A Diagnostic Laboratory offering the latest services with state of the art equipment has been set up by AlKhidmat Foundation Pakistan on Abbottabad Road in the Chanai area of Mansehra, with the generous collaboration of Charity Australia.
This is the first laboratory in the area which will provide services round the clock and will serve an extended area with collection centers in Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, and Balakot, saving people the time and resources to travel to Mansehra. The lab is fully equipped to carry out more than 150 types of tests related to hematology, biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, clinical pathology, molecular diagnostics, TCR, etc.
The people of the area are extremely pleased at the establishment of the diagnostic lab in their area as they earlier had to travel all the way to Abbottabad for lab tests to be carried out, while having to make an additional trip to pick up the test reports. The lab also has a 24 hour blood bank which provides blood on an exchange basis whenever needed.
The laboratory goes a step further in serving clients by sending them an SMS alert when their diagnostic report is ready for collection. Moreover, the lab is offering a 25% general discount to clients, as well as giving a out additional discounts to deserving people, including free tests.
