President House Holds Reception for Orphan Children to mark National Orphans Day

Islamabad: In a bid to mark National Orphans Day on Ramadan 15, the President House held a reception for orphan children from across the country. President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain, Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan and POCF President Muhammad Abdus Shakoor and Mehmet Emre, Country Director of Turkish organization TIKA, were chief guests on the occasion. 15th Ramadan is observed as World Orphans Day around the world on the call of OIC.

Speaking on the occasion, President Mamnoon Hussain advised the orphan children to not consider themselves inferior to anyone rather earn distinction by excelling in education and character to play an active role for human development.

He appreciated the role of the organizations undertaking orphan care programs to ensure bright future for the orphan children. He said the Pakistani society is fully aware of their responsibilities regarding the well being of these children.

The president lauded the parliament’s decision to observe 15th of holy month of Ramadan as a ‘Day of Orphan Children’ in Pakistan, like other countries of the Islamic world.

The National Assembly of Pakistan had decided to observe 15th Ramadan as National Orphans Day every year through a unanimous resolution earlier this week.

Lahore: Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan arranged a charity dinner to raise funds for Alkhidmat Orphan Care Program in Lahore. Renowned was former cricketer Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed, Mohammad Irfan ( Fast Bowler ) and President of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Mr Abdus Shakoor. Funds worth PKR 104.4 million were collected on the occasion, including a land plot of PKR 58 million value. The funds will be used for sponsorship of orphan children.

Faisalabad: Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Faisalabad chapter arranged a donor conference to raise funds for Alkhidmat Orphan Care Program in Faisalabad. Funds worth PKR 13.4 million were raised on the occasion. Renowned columnist Orya Maqbool Jan was chief guest, while AKFP Punjab chapter President Rao Muhammad Zafar was also present at the charity event.
