Alkhidmat Foundation Holds Ceremony To Observe World Orphans’ Day

Lahore, 22-06-2016: Like in many other Muslims countries, the World Orphans’ day was also observed in Pakistan today. 15th of Ramadan is chosen as a day of solidarity and love for orphan children in all Muslims world. The day is observed under the auspices if OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation). Alkhidmat Foundation is a proud member of the prestigious forum and Alkhidmat Foundation’s President, Mr. Abdus Shakoor also leads the OIC.
Note that a special bill has been passed in Pakistani senate to observe each 15th of Ramadan as the Orphans’ day. Seminars and conferences were arranged throughout the country to raise awareness about the plights and problems of orphan children. A special ceremony was also arranged in Lahore at 6:00 pm. Mr. Ehsan Ullah Waqas (Vice President Alkhidmat Foundation) was the chief guest of the ceremony. Mr. Rao Muhammad Zafar (President Alkhidmat Foundation Punjab), Mr. Ans Wahidi (President Alkhidmat Foundation Lahore), Syed Aamir Mehmood (Executive Director Ghazali Education Trust), Dr. Syed Waseem Akhtar, and representatives from Alkhidmat Foundation, Helping Hand, Muslims Aid, Islamic Relief Pakistan, Human Appeal, Qatar Charity, Read Foundation, Tameer-e-Millat Foundation, Edhi Homes, Foundation of Faithful, Anjuman-e-Faiz-ul-Islam, Siraat-ul-Jannat Trust, Khubaib Foundation, were also present on the occasion. A large number of orphan children also attended the ceremony.
Mr. Ehsan Ullah Waqas said that observing Orphans’ day is important because Muslims societies need to take care of the increasing number of orphans. He also thanked the representatives of all the NGOs who participated in the ceremony.
